Stellar lumen price google finance1/3/2024 You can buy lumens, but not Stellar itself. You need lumens to use the Stellar platform. In the end, clearing times are reduced and no banks need to be involved on either end of the transaction. The recipient could then trade those lumens for $50,000, or an equivalent amount of a different currency. This person could instead transfer the equivalent of $50,000 in lumens. Here’s how Stellar works: Let’s say someone is looking to transfer $50,000, but doesn’t have access to a bank capable of completing the transaction. Stellar will not produce any more lumens, so you cannot mine them. According to Stellar’s website, there are currently 50 billion lumens in circulation. Stellar is the foundation of the blockchain network, whereas lumens are traded on the network. While Stellar and XLM coexist in the same system, they are technically two different things. Stellar’s cryptocurrency tokens are called lumens, or XLM for short. It can also provide banking services and liquidity for people who can’t access traditional banking services. The idea behind the network is to make it easier and faster for people to send different types of currencies around the world. The network was founded by current chief architect Jed McCaleb, former lawyer Joyce Kim, who has since left Stellar and current chief scientist David Mazières. Stellar is an open-source, peer-to-peer digital currency network that emerged in 2015. Cryptocurrencies can be confusing and rather volatile, so it may be a good idea to work with a financial advisor before investing. Stellar and XLM were created in 2015, with the basic idea behind Stellar being to create a cryptocurrency that can reduce transaction costs and serve as a bridge between fiat, digital or other currencies. This cryptocurrency is required to complete transactions on the Stellar network. On the Stellar network, you can trade its form of currency, which is called lumens (XLM). Stellar is a decentralized computer network that operates using blockchain technology. Rose never once used the word rape in that conversation. Following the meeting, Rose told Jill what had happened – that she made the decision to remove her clothes and get in the hot tub with him - a mistake which Rose immediately regretted. One of her first clients was Rose McGowan, and one of Jill’s first duties was to set up a breakfast meeting with Harvey Weinstein during the Sundance Film Festival. In January 1997, Jill was an entry level manager at Addis Wechsler. She never chose to be a public figure, that choice was taken away from her. Now that Jill can no longer speak for herself, it’s time to set the record straight. She opted not to add to the feeding frenzy, allowing her name and her reputation to be sullied despite having done nothing wrong. One of them was Jill, who chose to remain silent in the face of Rose’s slanderous statements against her for fear of undermining the many individuals who came forward in truth. Over the past few months, many women have come out with allegations against Harvey Weinstein, including Rose McGowan, who has repeatedly spoken with the press, striking out against not only her alleged attacker, but a great many others. Jill was many things, but she was not a liar. She supported every woman finally coming forward to share their dark truths and expose those who had committed previously unspeakable deeds. She became collateral damage in an already horrific story.Īlso Read: Jill Messick's Suicide: Read Her Family's Devastating Statement The speed of disseminating information has carried mistruths about Jill as a person, which she was unable and unwilling to challenge. She was also a survivor, privately battling depression which had been her nemesis for years. Jill Messick was a mother of two children, a loving wife and partner, a dear friend to many and a smart entertainment executive. Her family released a statement on Thursday blaming her death on “our new culture of unlimited information sharing and a willingness to accept statement as fact,” specifically citing the fight between Rose McGowan and Harvey Weinstein that also ensnared Messick. It explores the ways in which the media systematically misrepresents women, particularly in the context of suits involving workplace gender discrimination, and examines the consequences of these errors, arguing that attempts to force women in the public eye into one of two molds – either pure and pristine with muted sexuality, or sexually promiscuous and vilified – has dramatic consequences for other employees in the workplace, for policymakers, and for the public at large.Jessica Smith is a Managing Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman LLP with an outstanding repertoire of litigation and legal research abilities. The article also probes the reasons behind the vehement (and often misinformed) public reaction to this case. This article picks up where the Iowa Supreme Court left off, exploring the complicated reasons behind this employee’s failure to win her case, and suggesting alternate theories under which a similarly-situated employee successfully could challenge this type of termination. In story after story, reporters, academics and pundits framed this decision as one involving an “irresistible woman” and a man’s “uncontrollable lust.” Yet while such characterizations made for catchy headlines, they were not quite true: The court’s decision did not hinge upon outmoded stereotypes regarding gender roles, but rather contained a plausible factual and legal basis for denying the plaintiff’s claim. As one might expect, uproar ensued, with the media, the public, and the academic community eviscerating the court for its failure to recognize and rectify gender discrimination. To the great surprise of many who followed this case, the Iowa Supreme Court sided with the employer, declining to find him liable for gender discrimination. Nasa mars rover marks its year1/3/2024 President Joe Biden has so far not laid out a robust space policy, but White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the administration fully supports NASA’s Artemis mission, which prioritizes returning American astronauts to the moon as a stepping stone to the ultimate goal of crewed Mars flights. But it’s also a crucial step toward sending people to the Red Planet, a long-term goal that was often raised by former President Donald Trump, but also has support from both parties. Studying the dust with high-tech equipment on Earth could answer big-picture questions, including whether life ever existed on Mars. But I think we have got to keep a robust exploration into space in our budget.” “When we have debt like we have, we don’t have money to spend like water. “This really goes beyond Democrat and Republican,” he said. Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.), the top Republican appropriator for NASA in the House, agreed that Mars draws the attention of members in both parties. “This mission has been years in the making, and unless determined otherwise by the team, would be a waste of talent and resources to not see this mission through and ensure the return of scientific samples the rover obtains,” Moran said in a statement. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), the top Republican on the appropriations subcommittee that funds NASA, said it’s important to see the mission through now that the first chapter has begun. The larger vehicle will drop the sample-holding ball somewhere in the Utah desert. That small orb will rendezvous with a larger spacecraft orbiting Mars in the third leg of the program. A rover named Fetch will pick up the tubes and load them into a spacecraft about the size of a soccer ball that will blast off from the surface. NASA will partner with the European Space Agency for the second part of the mission. Perseverance will place samples into small tubes that can sit on the surface for decades waiting for their return trip, Kenneth Farley, the project scientist for Perseverance, told POLITICO ahead of the mission launch. The Perseverance rover is the first in a proposed three-step effort to bring samples of the Red Planet’s dust back to Earth to study. We have competitors out there who are going to take advantage of the opportunities that exist on asteroids, the moon and Mars. “There will always be those kinds of challenges but we have to keep our eye on the ball. “It’s easy to get distracted by challenges,” Lucas said in an interview. Most recently, a Chinese spacecraft that arrived in Mars’ orbit this month will send a rover to the surface in a few months. For example, China has launched an aggressive space program, including robotic exploration of the far side of the moon and plans for a space station orbiting Earth. Other nations racing to the Red Planet should motivate hesitant lawmakers on board, Lucas argues. Lucas pointed to NASA’s track record to show why he’s worried, including the cancellation of the later Apollo missions because the nation “lost focus” and because of the gap in the agency’s commitment to deep space exploration when the Constellation program was scrubbed under the Obama administration. Frank Lucas (R-Okla.), the ranking member of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, said he would “enthusiastically” support such a proposal, adding that he is “concerned” about support and funding for the mission decreasing because the payoff of bringing the samples home is so far away. “But why not get a huge bipartisan vote in Congress committing to the idea that future appropriators can look back at and say, ‘This was the intent of Congress.’” “No Congress can commit another Congress to budget,” Beyer said in an interview. “But we can do the congressional equivalent.”īeyer, who was elected head of the House space panel last week, said he is eager to talk to the full committee leaders “right away” about passing a congressional resolution to show bipartisan support for funding the remainder of the Mars Sample Return effort, a three-part mission that’s expected to cost about $4 billion, in addition to the $2.7 billion already spent on the Perseverance rover. Don Beyer (D-Va.), who chairs the House space subcommittee, said in reference to Kennedy’s moonshot speech that birthed the Apollo program. We can’t be John Kennedy and say ‘at the end of the decade,’” Rep. But some space leaders on Capitol Hill hope to change that and give the Mars Sample Return Mission a better shot at outliving any one congressional term. Router table sled1/3/2024 This Peer to Peer connection will use 2.4Ghz wireless to establish the connection and carry the display data. This is called Peer to Peer networking, and it is the basis for the connection between your Surface and most Miracast enabled displays and adapters, like the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter that I use. Thanks to this design, you can allow people to project to your Miracast enabled displays without giving them access to anything on your network. To setup a point to point network connection between the two devices, just for screen sharing. Maybe they will in future! And if you want to see that feature introduced, make sure that you jump into the feedback app on your device and suggest the idea!īut, what I will show you is how to optimize Miracast for best performance. Windows currently doesn’t support that type of connection. Making it a screen that way instead of using Miracast. So, many have asked, “can I plug the Surface in?” – For example with a USB C or display port cable. So Miracast is pretty handy tech, but like all things wireless… it can be a little laggy when compared to using a cabled solution. If your having issues at this point, you might want to try a lower refresh rate or resolution. For example, if you’re trying to project at 60Hz in 4K, but your monitor doesn’t support that refresh rate and resolution combination, it could fail. If your trying to connect to an older monitor or projector you could encounter issues with resolution and refresh rates. See Also What is terp sauce and how is it made? - CannaConnection Borderline Personality Disorder Top 15 Process Analyst Skills The Best Free Linear App Alternative Display Refresh Rate and Resolution If you have this enabled, when you attempt to project the connect app will open on the receiving PC and show a pin number that you’ll need to type into the project menu on the projecting PC. One other thing that could halt the connection is the PIN security. Try again, and it often sorts itself out. There are a lot of moving parts with this setup, and I have found that on some devices it does fails to connect the first time. Let’s take a look at where things can go wrong next. So if you’ve checked out these things, your receiving device should be showing up in the connect list now. If you have disabled 2.4Ghz on either device it will not work. Miracast can work across 5Ghz connections – we’ll talk more about this – but it needs 2.4Ghz to initiate a connection. However, if you have limited your Wi-Fi adapter to only work on 5Ghz, Miracast will not work. Most Wi-Fi adapters – like the ones in your Surface will transmit on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz Wi-Fi networks. So don’t turn this one off unless you have to, and remember to turn it back to on when you’re done to save on power!Īnother thing that can stop you from projecting to your Surface is your network adapter settings. If you turn it off, then it will work on battery as well, but that of course has a battery life impact. If this one is set to on, it simply won’t work unless it’s plugged into power. “This PC can only be discovered for projection when it’s plugged into a power source.” The next thing to check is the power option. So it’s usually best to select “Available everywhere on secure networks” unless you’re trying to project in one of those places. Like at a hotel, airport lounge or shopping center for instance. This setting is there to prevent random people from projecting to your PC while you’re using somewhere in public. Set the option to “Available everywhere” if your devices are going to be connected to an unsecured Wi-Fi network when you want to project – or if you are not going to be connected to a Wi-Fi network at all. Setting this to private means that a slightly more relaxed firewall setting will be applied, and it should start to show up! The public network profile setting blocks the Miracast connection. If the Wi-Fi network profile is set to public, then Miracast won’t work. If your 2 devices are both connected to a secured network, but the receiver is still not showing up, check the Wi-Fi network properties on the device you’re trying to project to. Rationale for teaching sight words1/3/2024 In addition, the development of print awareness includes alphabet matching and letter naming, following print with the finger during read-alouds, and much interactive engagement with appealing books. Children at this level have not realized that words are composed of phonemes, that letters represent those speech sounds, and that words can be decoded by matching symbol to sound.Īppropriate activities at the pre-alphabetic level include phonological awareness tasks (carried out orally) such as rhyming counting, adding, and deleting syllables matching beginning consonants in words recognizing odd sounds substituting sounds and identifying that a sound exists in selected words (Adams, Treiman, & Pressley, 1997 Brady, Fowler, Stone, & Winbury, 1994 Foorman et al., 1997 Torgesen, Wagner, & Rashotte, 1997). A printed word may be remembered for its unique appearance, as in “pizza” or “D’Antoine.” If asked about the sound that begins “pizza, “however, the student might say “hot” or “m m m m.” This visual cue reading typically precedes the insight that alphabet letters correspond to speech sounds. Children will string letters together when they write and assign changing messages to them, or will look to context to guess at what a word says. Young children, typically before mid-kindergarten, may learn to recognize a limited vocabulary of whole words through incidental cues such as a picture, color, or shape (Ehri, 1994 Gough, Juel, & Griffith, 1992), but in this beginning stage of reading, do not associate sounds with symbols. The instruction we deliver should be compatible with the emerging competence of the student. The learner progresses from global to analytic processing, from approximate to specific linking of sound and symbol, and from context-driven to print-driven reading as proficiency is acquired. Moreover, a series of studies have traced how beginners learn to read and spell words (e.g., Ehri, 1994 Treiman, 1993 Wagner & Barker, 1994). The ability to sound out new words accounts for about 80 percent of the variance in first-grade reading comprehension, and continues to be a major factor in text comprehension as students progress through the grades (Foorman, Francis, Shaywitz, et al., 1997). That decoding is learned early by good readers is established in studies of reading development (Chall, 1983 Cunningham & Stanovich, 1997 Ehri, 1994). Align Decoding Instruction with the Stages of Reading Development As we shall see, problems abound not only with the approaches to decoding typically found in whole-language and “literature-based” programs but also with programs associated with traditional phonics. With rare exception, classroom practice is not informed by these principles. While this renewed interest in phonics is certainly a welcome development, we will make limited progress unless decoding instruction is grounded in what we know about the stages of reading development, the structure of the English language, and the strategies students employ to learn it. Automatic word recognition, which is dependent on phonic knowledge, allows the reader to attend to meaning likewise, slow, belabored decoding overloads short-term memory and impedes comprehension. Cognitive scientists have shown beyond doubt that fluent, accurate decoding is a hallmark of skilled reading (Adams, Treiman, & Pressley, 1997 Fletcher & Lyon, 1998 Rack, Snowling, & Olson, 1992 Share, 1995 Stanovich & Siegel, 1994 Vellutino, Scanlon, & Sipay, 1997). American Educator/Amercian Federation of TeachersĪs it has become increasingly apparent that substantial numbers of children are failing to become skilled readers, a consensus is emerging among reading researchers, practitioners, and policy makers concerning the critical role that decoding plays in the reading process (Snow, Burns, & Griffin, 1998). You probably know that your call center agents work long hours, and the headset is one of their most important tools. Bear this in mind when choosing a headset for your employees. Note that headset comfort is equally as important as durability. On top of blocking out unwanted noises, Krisp also cancels echoes and removes voices which don’t belong to the main speaker. It easily integrates with call center telephony platforms and works seamlessly with any headsets and microphones. You can pair the app with any headsets for call center. However, the good news is that your call center can use a software solution, like Krisp, to improve communication clarity by muting background noise. High-quality active noise cancelation usually comes at a premium price, which is usually offered by the likes of notable industry titans, such as Sony, Bose, and Sennheiser. In fact, they use technology in order to add an extra layer of ANC (active noise canceling) that is particularly invaluable in call centers and anywhere with constant noise at low ranges. The right noise-canceling headphones for your office do not only passively block sounds by providing an effective physical barrier, as you will get with either all in-ear or over-ear headphones. These headsets will enable you to listen to your customers at low volumes on average, which will potentially preserve your hearing. This is because they help suppress any outside noise and prevent your conversation with customers being interrupted. You should consider noise-canceling headsets for your call center. This is why you should look for reliable solutions made of top-quality materials, like surgical steel, to get the best results. Keep in mind that headsets that break easily can reduce call center efficiency, and increase frustration among your call center agents and employees. Criteria for Choosing Headsets for Your Own Call Center DurabilityĪs headsets are essential for the successful and seamless operation of your call center, durability and quality are essential considerations that you cannot overlook. And this will lead to more satisfied customers, as they will get their questions and queries answered without delay. In contrast, call center headsets with excellent sound and microphone clarity and that fit comfortably can make multitasking much more manageable during calls. If uncomfortable or unwieldy headsets distract your call center representatives or they cannot listen or communicate clearly during calls, their productivity and efficiency will suffer. Keep in mind that even if there are just a few people in one room, talking over one another is likely to be a serious issue when dealing with customers. We know that call centers can be notoriously loud, which can disrupt effective communication over the call. The best call center headset for your agents can be a crucial factor in improving their effectiveness, performance, and productivity. Why Having the Right Headsets Is Important For Call Centers Time to discover our top call center headset recommendations that won’t ever fail you. But sometimes, you need extra helper tools to provide the right audio quality. Also, in a busy, packed call center with an open office floor plan, too much background chatter and noise could be distracting and downright annoying.Īn excellent headset for call centers helps minimize distractions and often features a microphone to capture clean audio for uninterrupted and long conversations. This makes it crucial for your organization to explore your options so you can choose the best model for your call center agents. Today, both physical and virtual call centers need the best headsets on the market to keep employees and customers happy. Therefore, the call center headset that may work well for one agent, might not meet the needs of another agent. If you manage or work in a call center, you probably know call center agents use increasingly sophisticated headsets. His family advised him not to go, but he persisted, and his daughters went with him part of the way. He remarked that he would go to his barn and turn his horse into the pasture.
